PS Remote Play is a free PlayStation feature and app for streaming games from PS4 and PS5 consoles to compatible devices. It is aimed at PlayStation owners who want to continue playing away from the connected television, whether on a Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android device, Android TV device, another PlayStation console, or PlayStation Portal. A compatible console, game, account, and broadband connection are required, and Sony recommends at least 15 Mbps for a better experience.

Its main strength is platform and controller coverage within the PlayStation ecosystem. Remote sessions can run over Wi-Fi or mobile data, while compatible mobile devices can provide touch controls. Players can use DualSense, DualSense Edge, and DUALSHOCK 4 controllers, and Remote Play supports connections between PS5 and PS4 consoles. Local multiplayer is also supported with additional remote-session users, giving the feature wider use than a single-device continuation tool.

The trade-off is that PS Remote Play depends on the PlayStation hardware and the compatibility of the game being played. The maximum resolution is 1080p, so it is not aimed at players seeking higher-resolution remote streaming. Regional service restrictions and game compatibility rules also apply. PlayStation Plus is not required for ordinary Remote Play, but the feature still requires an eligible console and a suitable connection. Choose PS Remote Play if you already own a PS4 or PS5 and want free official access across supported devices; choose another remote-play option if you do not have compatible PlayStation hardware or need capabilities beyond its published limits.
