Probo is an open-source governance, risk, and compliance platform for engineering, security, and compliance teams. It brings frameworks, controls, measures, tasks, evidence, risks, audits, documents, and third-party records into one organization. Teams can manage frameworks and controls, map controls to operational measures, collect evidence through files and URLs, assess risks, review vendors, track remediation, and publish selected security information through a Compliance Portal. Probo supports web, API, and self-hosted use.
Its broad workflow coverage is the main reason to consider it. Supported frameworks include SOC 3, CCPA, CASA, ISO 27001, FERPA, SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 1, ISO 42001, GDPR, ISO 27701, and HIPAA. Document versioning, approvals, signatures, and PDF export support formal review processes, while audit findings and remediation tracking connect identified issues to follow-up work. AI-assisted automation is available through MCP, adding an automation path alongside the core compliance workflows.
Deployment flexibility is another important distinction. Probo is available as a managed cloud service or as a self-hosted application, giving open-source teams a choice in how they operate the platform. Integration and automation interfaces include GraphQL, CLI, MCP, n8n, webhooks, and Slack, although the integration set is comparatively limited. Probo suits teams that want one system spanning compliance, risk, evidence, vendors, audits, and policies, particularly when self-hosting or open-source access matters. Teams seeking only a narrow evidence-collection or policy-management tool may prefer a more focused alternative.
