Our verdict on povo Japan SIM
povo Japan SIM is a data-only eSIM service from KDDI for visitors who need mobile data in Japan. Online signup and eSIM issuance are available before or after arrival, making it suitable for travelers arranging connectivity around their trip. The service is Japan-only, and it does not support voice calls or SMS, so it is not a substitute for a plan that includes those services. A credit card is required to buy packs online.
Pack options span fixed allowances and time-limited unlimited data. The listed fixed packs are 3 GB for 3 days, 5 GB for 5 days, 10 GB for 7 days, and 20 GB for 30 days. Unlimited packs are offered for 6 hours, 3 days, 5 days, or 7 days, each paired with 0.5 GB valid for 60 days. According to the product details, pack validity starts immediately after purchase; unlimited-data promo codes are applied after arrival. The published starting price is ¥600, though prices for the listed packs are not specified here. Buyers should check the current price and pack terms before choosing.
Setup instructions cover iPhone and Android, and the service can be arranged online, so visitors can prepare on either platform. The listed support channel is documentation, with no 24/7 support. Choose povo Japan SIM if Japan-only data and a choice of fixed or time-limited unlimited packs fit the trip. Look elsewhere if you need voice calls, SMS, service beyond Japan, or support beyond documentation.
