Posteo review
A privacy-focused paid mailbox with encryption, aliases, and anonymous payment options.

Posteo is a Germany-based paid email service for people who want privacy-focused communication without advertising. Its mailbox combines encrypted storage, OpenPGP and PGP/MIME support, aliases, and ad-free webmail. Anonymous registration and payment options add privacy during account creation and billing. The service also includes calendar and address-book functionality, making it more than a mailbox while remaining focused on private email hosting.
Posteo uses a flat paid-subscription model rather than advertising or data-driven monetization. The Posteo mailbox plan is listed with a starting price of 1 and includes 4 GB of mailbox storage, encrypted storage, aliases using Posteo-owned domains, and an attachment Cleanup Tool for managing files and freeing space. The plan structure is straightforward, but the offering is intentionally narrow: buyers get a privacy-oriented mailbox and related personal-organisation tools rather than a broad suite of collaboration features. Users prioritising ad-free email, encryption, and anonymous payment options should find the feature mix closely aligned with those needs.
Platform fit is the main consideration. Posteo centers the experience on webmail, and its listed platform coverage is web. The service is described as supporting standard email clients, but its broader integrations remain limited. That makes it a better match for individuals who value private email hosting and can work within a focused ecosystem than for teams seeking extensive app connections or a wider productivity platform. Choose Posteo for privacy-oriented mail, aliases, storage controls, and calendar and address-book functions; consider an alternative if native platform breadth or deep integrations matter more than an ad-free, privacy-led mailbox.
