poste.io is a self-hosted email server for individuals and organizations that want to run mail infrastructure on their own Linux server. Distributed as one Docker container, it combines SMTP delivery and submission, IMAP and POP3 access, HTTPS webmail, spam filtering, antivirus, mailbox quotas, aliases, Sieve filtering, administration and a REST API. It is suited to teams that want control over domains, mailboxes and server operation rather than a hosted mailbox service.

The plan structure makes the free edition the main draw. FREE is for personal use and includes unlimited domains and unlimited mailboxes. PRO costs $349 per year and keeps unlimited domains and mailboxes while adding domain administrators, email support, diagnostics and log viewers. PRO+ costs $1,239 per year and adds transfer of current email accounts plus remote installation, updates and monitoring. The paid tiers therefore target organizations that need more administrative support, troubleshooting visibility or assistance with migration and ongoing operation.

poste.io also covers a wide range of mail-server requirements in one deployment. It supports configurable mailbox quotas and per-mailbox settings, redirects, aliases, autodiscovery, authentication records through SPF, DKIM, DMARC and SRS, and ActiveSync through Z-Push. Standard mail clients can connect through IMAP or POP3, while web access is available through HTTPS. The trade-off is the operating model: deployment remains self-hosted on Linux, and mobile access relies on third-party apps. Choose poste.io if a free, broad mail stack and server control matter; choose another option if you want a fully hosted service or a native mobile application.
