Posnic POS is a local-first point-of-sale application for retail shops and restaurants. Its desktop edition runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, with the local database and API stored on the shop computer. The Community Edition covers checkout, returns, payments, taxes, discounts, receipts, inventory, purchasing, customer records, reporting, employee permissions, branches, outlets, and registers. It is suited to businesses that want an open-source POS with local operation rather than a required vendor account.

The Community Edition costs INR 0 forever and is free and open source under AGPL-3.0-only public source. There is no trial timer or required account. The plan includes local sales and stock workflows plus configurable local backups, while the wider product feature set includes CSV catalog import, report export, low-stock monitoring, expiry review, day-end reports, customer balances, loyalty, restaurant KOT, and table workflows. Optional paid cloud services add browser access, synchronization, remote dashboards, and managed off-site backup, making the product's main pricing distinction the choice between local operation and additional cloud services.

Posnic POS has a focused integration surface: API and webhooks are listed, while hardware support is through third parties. That makes it a stronger fit for businesses prioritizing local-first checkout, inventory control, branch management, and offline counter workflows over a broad plug-in ecosystem. Retail shops and restaurants that need roles, permissions, reports, purchasing, or restaurant tables can find substantial coverage in one application. Businesses that require extensive native integrations, built-in AI features, or hardware supplied directly through the product should consider alternatives with those capabilities.
