Our verdict on Posaco
Posaco is a web-based poster creation tool for academic presentations, research groups, and related institutional materials. It offers academic poster templates, A0 and B0 presets, and custom dimensions specified in millimeters. Users can add text, images, charts, headers, logos, and stamps, then adjust layout, spacing, typography, and color. A two-screen editor separates poster structure from section details. PDF export supports printing and conference submission, with PNG also available. These features make Posaco a focused option for researchers and teams producing academic posters rather than a general-purpose design suite.
The pricing is based on fixed-term licenses, not monthly subscriptions. According to the vendor's pricing page, the 3-month plan costs JPY 6,600 and the 12-month plan costs JPY 9,900, including tax; both include all Posaco features and Posaco Tools graph creation, and neither renews automatically. A 14-day trial is available before a paid license. The Group license requires a minimum of five licenses and adds centralized member management and collaborative team production. This structure suits a defined poster project or group purchase, while teams seeking a free plan or recurring monthly option should look elsewhere.
The main fit question is the editor version. Posaco gen2 supports custom dimensions and PDF/PNG export, while collaborative editing, sharing, comments, and cloud file management are currently available in the legacy editor as gen2 support is being rolled out. The legacy features include version history, shared preview URLs, comment replies, and resolution tracking. Posaco is a reasonable choice when precise poster sizing and export matter most, and a team can work with the relevant collaboration features in the legacy editor. Those who need the full collaborative workflow in gen2 should consider alternatives until support arrives there.
