PoryMap is a desktop editor for maps and related assets in Pokémon Generation III decompilation projects: pokeruby, pokeemerald, and pokefirered. It is aimed at solo creators working within those projects who need to edit maps, tilesets, metatile properties, or region-map elements. Because it edits project assets rather than ROM binaries directly, it is not a fit for someone seeking an editor for arbitrary game ROMs.

Its scope goes beyond placing map elements. PoryMap can edit individual tilesets and metatile properties, import indexed PNG tile images, modify tileset palette files, and import palettes from supported formats. Region-map tools cover backgrounds, layouts, and map entries. It can also import metatile data exported from Advance Map 1.92, which may help when working with that specific interchange path. These capabilities make it a targeted choice for map and tileset work, not a general-purpose tool for every part of a ROM-hacking project.

PoryMap is open source and has a free plan. Downloadable builds are published for Windows and macOS, while Linux users compile from source. Documentation is the listed support channel, so users should be comfortable referring to project documentation and handling some technical setup, particularly on Linux. Choose PoryMap when your work centers on maps and related assets in the supported decompilation projects; choose another tool if you need direct ROM-binary editing or broader ROM-hacking coverage.
