PORTAX is a 64-bit Windows desktop application for investors and financial advisors conducting medium- and long-term taxable portfolio analysis. It covers asset allocation, asset location across multiple tax entities, cash management, tax planning, after-tax optimization, and multi-period projections. The product is aimed at tax-sensitive investors and advisors, with support for corporate project funding analysis and institutional spending requirements. PORTAX Plus extends the product for higher-net-worth portfolios and more detailed tax structures.

The standard PORTAX plan costs $89 per user per month or $899 per user per year. It includes after-tax portfolio analysis, software and electronic manuals, free version updates, and free maintenance and technical support. A 60-day demonstration is available, but there is no perpetual free plan. PORTAX Plus costs $299 per user per month or $2,999 per user per year. Its additions include more complex portfolio and tax modeling, sub-portfolios for multiple legal and tax structures, time-varying tax rates, and portfolios spanning generations. Both editions are installed Windows applications, and an optional free LAN version is available.

The product’s strongest area is the depth of its portfolio-focused tax analysis. Users can create and compare what-if portfolios, review per-period tax and return results, project income, capital gains, fees, and taxes, and apply Monte Carlo simulation to portfolio calculations. Modeling for international tax tables, custom time-varying tax rates, multiple ownership structures, and private-branded client reporting broadens its use for advisory work. PORTAX is a strong fit when after-tax allocation and multi-period scenario modeling are central requirements. Organizations needing a browser-based product or a perpetual free edition should consider a different type of tool.
