Our verdict on Polimi Open Knowledge
Polimi Open Knowledge (POK) is Politecnico di Milano’s MOOC portal, offering free online courses developed by the university and partner institutions. Its intended audience spans students, teachers, researchers, professionals, workers, and other learners. Topics include academic subjects, advanced digital skills, teaching methods, and professional and soft skills. Course content and language vary, so learners should assess each course against their goals before enrolling.
The learning experience is organized around course materials, lessons, and activities, including graded quizzes. Depending on the course, completion may provide an Open Badge or certificate of accomplishment; credentials are not presented as universal across the catalogue. Verified-account access can use Polimi, eduGAIN, or SPID/CIE methods. This is a focused fit for learners looking for free university-associated MOOCs with structured activities, rather than a paid subscription catalogue or a uniform credential across courses.
POK is web-based, with email as its support channel. That keeps the access model straightforward, but learners seeking mobile apps should look elsewhere. It also does not list business plans, so organizations looking for a dedicated team purchasing arrangement may prefer another service. Choose POK for free courses from Politecnico di Milano and partner institutions, especially when lesson activities matter; consider alternatives if mobile access or consistent certificate availability is essential.
