Point85 OEE review
A broad, open-source OEE suite for connected manufacturing operations.

Point85 OEE is an open-source software suite for manufacturers that need to calculate, monitor, and analyze Overall Equipment Effectiveness. It brings together availability, performance, and quality calculations with production, reject, rework, and startup counts. Technical teams can configure plant equipment, materials, reasons, schedules, and units while collecting events through manual entry or automated sources. The suite includes desktop, web, mobile, browser, collector, and monitoring components.
Its strongest fit is a connected manufacturing environment with varied equipment and data systems. Point85 OEE supports OPC DA, OPC UA, HTTP/S, RabbitMQ, JMS, MQTT, Kafka, WebSocket, Email, and Modbus, along with GE Proficy Historian and Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. It stores OEE event data in relational databases and can monitor current OEE, equipment status, and events. This breadth gives technical teams several paths for bringing production data into one workflow rather than limiting them to manual entry or a single industrial protocol.
The analysis layer covers planned and unplanned downtime, other time-loss categories, and time-loss and Pareto charts. That makes the product relevant for teams investigating recurring losses as well as those needing current equipment visibility. The open-source model is a clear fit for organizations that want access to project repositories and downloadable applications as part of their OEE approach. Point85 OEE is less suitable for buyers specifically seeking built-in AI capabilities or a packaged commercial plan structure. Choose it when platform coverage, configurable data collection, and open-source availability matter most; look elsewhere when AI-driven functionality is a central requirement.
