Our verdict on PNGTuber Plus
PNGTuber Plus is a free desktop application for creating customizable 2D PNG avatars for streaming and recorded content. It is aimed at beginners and creators who want animated PNG characters without a Live2D or 3D rigging workflow. Avatars can be assembled from PNG images or sprite sheets, with speaking and blinking reactions, costume or expression changes through hotkeys, and support for transparent or green-screen backgrounds.
Its standout feature is the amount of motion control available for a sprite-based workflow. Users can configure sine-wave movement, parent-child sprite relationships, positional and rotational drag, bounce, and jiggle effects. Sprites can also be shown or hidden based on speaking and blinking. These options make the software suitable for creators who want more expressive movement than a static image while keeping their avatar setup centered on PNG assets. Configurations can be saved and shared, which supports repeatable avatar setups across content.
The published plan is Free / name your own price at $0 USD as a one-time price, with PNG avatar customization, sprite sheets, speaking and blinking reactions, and builds for Windows, macOS, and Linux. OBS is the listed integration, with transparent and green-screen backgrounds supporting that workflow. PNGTuber Plus is a strong fit for free PNG sprite streamers who want configurable motion and a straightforward desktop app. Creators looking for Live2D or 3D rigging, AI features, or a broader virtual-production workflow should choose a different type of VTuber software.
