Pliny is a self-hosted Kanban project-management application for teams that want to run their own infrastructure. It combines customizable boards, drag-and-drop cards, labels, due dates, checklists, attachments and custom fields with calendar and timeline views. Collaboration includes comments, mentions, notifications, per-board roles and public read-only board links. Teams can also import Trello JSON or CSV files and export CSV or JSON data. Pliny suits organizations that prioritize control over where their project data is stored and how the application is deployed.

Pricing is split between a free Self-Hosted plan, Pliny Cloud at $10 per month, and an Enterprise plan with custom pricing. Self-Hosted includes all board views, unlimited users, boards and cards, the REST API, webhooks, SSO / OIDC and community support. Pliny Cloud adds managed infrastructure, automatic backups, automatic updates, a 99.9% uptime SLA and email support while retaining unlimited users. Enterprise adds a dedicated instance, priority support with SLA, custom data residency, procurement and security review support, and onboarding assistance. Pliny Cloud is still being built and uses a waitlist.

For organizations with technical ownership of deployment, Pliny offers a focused feature set with Docker and Docker Compose deployment, REST API access, personal access tokens and HMAC-signed webhooks. OIDC single sign-on and TOTP two-factor authentication support a more controlled access model. The tradeoff is a narrower ecosystem: there are no verified third-party integrations or mobile apps, and WIP limits are not included. Choose Pliny when self-hosting, data control and core Kanban workflows matter most. Teams needing mobile access, broader integrations or built-in WIP limits should consider an alternative.
