Planyard is cloud-based construction financial-management software for contractors, subcontractors, developers and project teams. It brings project budgets, purchase orders, invoices, subcontractor payment applications, change orders and retention calculations into one workspace. Small and mid-sized construction teams that want an alternative to spreadsheet-based cost control can use it to monitor spending, forecast profitability and manage cash flow across projects.

The published monthly plans are priced per project manager. Estimating costs $52 and includes client quotes, markups, a cost database, a sales pipeline dashboard and quote templates with version history. Essential costs $105 and adds budget control, actual-spending tracking, automated purchase invoices and invoice sync with Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB. Professional costs $158 and adds purchase orders, committed-cost tracking, profitability and cash-flow forecasts, contracts and progress reports. Ultimate costs $210 and adds full functionality, subcontractor and vendor quoting, subcontract tracking, change orders and payment applications. Enterprise offers custom solutions for complex workflows. A 14-day full-featured trial is available without a credit card.

Planyard’s strongest fit is financial visibility around construction jobs rather than broad business administration. Features cover accounts-payable invoice capture, approvals and OCR, procurement, retainage calculations and client reporting. Integrations include Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, Procore, Sage and Directo, with approved financial documents able to sync to accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB and Sage. The web-based product provides email, chat and documentation support. Teams that need payroll or work-in-progress verification should choose a system built around those functions; builders focused on project cost, procurement and forecast control are the clearest match.

Planyard pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Real-time budgets, committed costs and actual spending tracking
    • Profitability and cash-flow forecasting for construction projects
    • Subcontractor bids, change orders, retainage and payment applications
  • Where it doesn't
    • No payroll or work-in-progress verification
    • Web deployment only
    • Higher tiers are needed for forecasting and subcontract workflows
