PlanSwift review
A feature-rich Windows estimator with strong automation, but a high annual seat price.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
PlanSwift is Windows desktop software for general contractors and specialty trade contractors that need digital takeoff and estimating in one application. It measures areas, lengths, counts, slopes, and volumes from digital plans, then applies reusable material and labor assemblies to calculate estimate costs. Estimators can build custom formulas, templates, fields, and plugins, generate bid proposals, and work with PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG, TIFF, and PLN files. The product is a strong fit for desktop-based estimating teams that value detailed measurement and repeatable estimating workflows.
Pricing is annual and charged per seat. PlanSwift Essential is listed at $1,500 and $2,000 per seat per year, with takeoff and estimating, pre-built trade assemblies, Auto Count, Auto Scale, and Auto Bookmark. The $2,000 option also includes two hours of live training. PlanSwift Core is listed at $2,500 and $3,000 per seat per year and adds the full Takeoff BOOST suite and Auto Takeoff. A 14-day trial provides full feature access without requiring a credit card. The published pricing also includes discounted per-seat prices for 2+ seats, making seat count an important consideration for larger estimating groups.
PlanSwift’s standout strength is the combination of assembly-based estimating and automation. Takeoff BOOST adds AI Auto Takeoff, while Auto Count, Auto Scale, and Auto Bookmark reduce repetitive plan work. Excel Live Link supports Excel-initiated takeoff, imports, and exports, and reports can be exported to PDF, Excel, CSV, XML, and HTML. That ecosystem fit suits estimators whose workflows already depend on Microsoft Excel. The main constraint is platform scope: PlanSwift is Windows-only desktop software, not a browser-based or cross-platform tool. Teams needing Mac access or a web-first workflow should consider an alternative, while Windows estimators seeking deep takeoff customization should find the feature set compelling.
