Our verdict on Placeit
Placeit is a browser-based design platform from Envato for creating social media and visual content without limiting the library to one channel. Its templates cover Instagram posts and stories, Facebook posts, covers and stories, TikTok videos, YouTube banners, thumbnails and videos, plus Pinterest and Twitch formats. The product also includes logo and branding templates, mockup generation, editable video templates, and tools for changing text, colors, images and other design elements. It suits marketers, creators and teams looking for broad template browsing in one web-based workspace.
Placeit uses freemium pricing: a free plan sits alongside a paid unlimited subscription. The free plan provides access to free templates, while the paid option is intended for broader use of the platform's template and visual-asset library. Current paid-plan presentations can vary by promotion and region, so buyers should review the available subscription terms before committing. The main practical trade-off is straightforward: users can begin without a paid subscription, but ongoing access to the wider offering is tied to the paid tier.
Its strongest fit is breadth. Search and tag-based filtering help narrow a large selection across social channels, and the mix of image templates, video templates, logos and mockups supports several content needs in one place. PNG and MP4 downloads cover common static and video workflows, but the listed export choices are limited to those formats. Placeit is a good choice for users who prioritize channel coverage, reusable templates and mockup creation in a browser. Those needing a desktop or mobile app, or export formats beyond PNG and MP4, should consider a more specialized alternative.
