PersonaChat is an AI character chat and roleplay app for iPhone and iPad. It is designed for users who want to create characters with personalities, traits, backstories, scenarios, and conversation styles, then use them in one-to-one or group scenes. Built-in characters and included group scenarios provide starting points, while JSON character-card import supports bringing in existing character setups. The app is text-first and does not include voice chat.
Story continuity is the product’s clearest focus. Running Recap, Living Memory, and Lorebook work together to retain important context across conversations, while users can edit, delete, and regenerate messages. Multi-character scenes include smart response routing, which suits roleplay involving several characters rather than a single conversational partner. Conversations are stored on the device; selected content is processed by VenusCloud and model providers to generate replies and memory updates. Optional OpenRouter bring-your-own-key support adds an integration point for users who want that setup.
PersonaChat follows a freemium model. The Free plan is ad-supported, allows users to watch ads to continue playing, and has daily limits in some regions. The Weekly plan costs $4.99 per week after a 3-day free trial and adds an ad-free experience, no daily limits, and full narrative control. Monthly costs $9.99 per month, while Yearly costs $59.99 per year; both include the same paid features without the trial detail listed for Weekly.
