PartsBox review
Broad electronics BOM coverage, with higher tiers for production and compliance.

PartsBox is a hosted application for companies and individuals that build electronic products. It brings together component inventory, storage locations, BOM imports, BOM pricing, purchasing, production builds, sub-assemblies, lot traceability, serial numbers, and barcode-based receiving and labeling. Its audience includes electronics product companies, design and engineering firms, contract manufacturers, regulated manufacturers, laboratories, and makers. Browser access, a public API, CAD integrations, and JSON export support different operational and technical needs.
The plan structure scales from personal projects to regulated production. Maker is aimed at personal projects and includes one user, single-currency support, BOM import, label printing, and barcode scanning. Essentials costs €49 per month billed annually and adds inventory, purchasing, BOM pricing, multiple users, multiple currencies, sub-assemblies, attachments, and build configuration history. Production costs €99 per month billed annually, adding multi-stage builds, part attrition calculations, an advanced build system, and Altium Designer integration. Control costs €239 per month billed annually with lot control, serial numbers, role-based access control, and kitting. Compliance costs €499 per month billed annually and adds an audit trail, NIST SP 800-63B AAL1 security rules, and U.S. FDA Title 21 CFR Part 11 support.
For electronics teams, the strongest fit is the combination of BOM pricing, purchasing, production tracking, barcode workflows, and traceability. BOM pricing can account for distributor offers, price breaks, minimum order quantities, and order multiples, while builds can use pick lists, multi-stage processes, and attrition calculations. KiCad, Altium Designer, Zapier, and the public API extend its ecosystem, and the product supports web and API access. Teams needing formal change workflows should consider an alternative, while teams that need cloud-based inventory and production control can choose PartsBox according to the scale and compliance needs of their builds.
