Our verdict on ParseExtract

ParseExtract offers web tools and APIs to extract text, tables, and structured fields from PDFs, images, and DOCX files. It is aimed at developers and smaller teams that want to process documents through OCR or call extraction features from an application. OCR covers scanned pages and handwriting as well as standard PDF and image documents. For requested fields, users provide a prompt and receive structured output, including JSON; extracted tables can be converted to CSV or Excel.

Pricing is usage-based, with different charges according to the task. The published plans list PDF and image OCR at $1.50 per 1,000 pages or $1.50 per million output tokens. Table extraction costs $0.01 per page or image, while structured data extraction costs $2 per million output tokens. The pricing page also states a fixed 50¢ charge per transaction, which matters when estimating small jobs. The homepage trial is limited to 3 pages or images per day and processes one page at a time; full API access requires an account and API key. This structure may suit workloads where usage can be measured, but the transaction charge makes tiny or occasional requests less attractive.

API access includes synchronous and asynchronous calls, and OCR output can include inline image identifiers. Table extraction supports PDFs, images, and DOCX, with multi-page table jobs described in the API documentation. Structured data extraction, however, is not currently available for multi-page documents, so workflows that need fields gathered across a longer file may need another approach. ParseExtract is a fit for developers who need OCR, table exports, or prompt-defined fields on supported documents and can work within the cloud API model. It is a weaker choice for multi-page structured extraction or for users seeking a broad set of integrations and support channels beyond email.
