Parler-TTS is an open-source text-to-speech model and inference/training library from Hugging Face. It is intended for developers and researchers who want to generate speech locally, control voice characteristics through prompts, or adapt models through training and fine-tuning. The project provides downloadable model weights and supports commercial use. Its published Mini checkpoint is labeled English, while WAV is the listed export format.

Prompt control is the defining capability. Text descriptions can specify speaker, gender, pitch, speaking rate, background noise, and reverberation, giving researchers a way to shape generated speech without relying only on fixed presets. Named-speaker consistency is supported through 34 trained speakers. Streaming and batch generation cover different processing patterns, while SDPA, Flash Attention 2, and PyTorch compilation support are available for supported local workflows.

Parler-TTS follows an open-source, self-hosted model rather than a hosted subscription service. Local inference uses PyTorch and Transformers with downloadable weights, and the project includes inference code, training recipes, and fine-tuning resources. That approach suits teams comfortable managing their own environment and working directly with model code, but it does not provide hosted API access and has limited platform coverage. Choose Parler-TTS when prompt-controlled speech, local execution, or model adaptation matters most. A hosted TTS service or broader platform coverage is a better fit for teams that do not want to manage local inference.
