Our verdict on Paper
Paper is a web-based study workspace for students and professionals who want to learn from documents, lectures, and research they supply. It accepts PDFs, slides, videos, and web pages as sources, then provides summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and chat with those materials. Answers cite specific pages or timestamps, giving learners a way to check responses against the source rather than treating chat output as a standalone answer. Notes can sit alongside source material in an editor, and flashcards can be reviewed with spaced repetition.
The source-grounded workflow is Paper’s clearest distinction: a learner can bring several kinds of material into one workspace and generate multiple study formats from it. Citations are useful when verifying a point in a long document or locating a moment in a video. The notes editor keeps personal notes near the source, while flashcard review supports returning to material over time. Notion note import is the named integration, so Paper may suit learners whose existing notes are already there; the listed product footprint otherwise centers on its web app.
Paper is described as free during beta with unlimited AI credits, and the published offer makes it accessible without a trial card. That is a beta offer rather than a basis for assuming future pricing. Its web-only platform is a practical constraint for anyone who wants dedicated mobile apps, and documentation is the listed support channel. Choose Paper if you study from your own files or pages and want cited answers plus several ways to review them in a browser. Look elsewhere if mobile apps or a broader integration ecosystem are central to your study routine.
