Our verdict on Pano Tuner
Pano Tuner is a mobile chromatic tuner for musicians working with guitar, bass, strings, piano, brass, woodwinds, harp, voice, and other instruments. It detects pitch and displays the note, frequency in hertz, and cents, while a tuning meter indicates whether the sound is sharp or flat. The app is available on iOS and Android, with a free Android version and a paid iOS version. Its strongest audience is musicians exploring alternate, historical, microtonal, or custom temperaments rather than users who only need standard concert-pitch tuning.
Tuning flexibility is the defining feature. Users can adjust the concert-A reference pitch, choose among nine historical and microtonal temperaments, and create and save custom temperaments. Pano Tuner also offers multiple note-name systems, reference-tone playback, and adjustable tuning tolerance. A Pitch Trace graph shows pitch changes over time, which gives singers and instrumentalists a way to observe intonation rather than only checking a single reading. These controls make the app suitable for specialized tuning work while retaining chromatic detection and a conventional tuning meter for everyday use.
The free Android version is ad-supported, and a one-time purchase removes those ads. The iOS version is paid and includes no ads, every feature unlocked, and support for iPhone and iPad. Pano Tuner fits musicians who want a broad set of temperament and reference-pitch controls across mobile platforms. Someone seeking strobe tuning or a product with explicitly documented offline operation should consider an alternative. For standard tuning, the free Android version covers the core meter and pitch-detection needs; the paid version is more appropriate when ad-free access and the complete feature set matter.
