Ovaro review
A focused recordkeeping tool for sole traders, with receipt capture, HMRC-rate mileage and tax estimates.

Ovaro brings invoicing, expense and receipt tracking, mileage records, payment links and tax estimates into a financial administration tool for UK sole traders, freelancers and other self-employed workers. Voice or text input can help create invoices, while receipt scans are automatically categorized and GPS mileage is calculated at HMRC rates. It is aimed at people who want to keep business records and prepare tax information, rather than a replacement for tax advice or filing services.
The published monthly plans show Basic at £3.99 and Premium at £6.99. Both include voice-to-invoice, expense upload or scanning with auto-categorisation, GPS mileage tracking at HMRC rates, Stripe payment links and QR codes, and estimated tax liability updates. Premium adds unlimited invoices, estimates and receipts, as well as unlimited receipt scanning. Ovaro has no free ongoing plan; its free first-invoice journey is distinct from a continuing free tier. VAT is exclusive and added at checkout where applicable. The pricing makes Basic a lower-cost entry point, while Premium is the option for users who need its unlimited allowances.
The product's fit is strongest for UK recordkeeping: it can export business records as CSV and create MTD-ready quarterly summaries, but its terms clarify that it does not submit records to HMRC or provide tax, accounting or legal advice. Stripe is the listed payment integration, and the product is available on web and Android. Choose Ovaro if receipt capture, mileage and estimated tax alongside invoicing matter; look elsewhere if you need a tool that files with HMRC or a free continuing plan.
