Our verdict on OptiPic

OptiPic is a cloud-based web service for automating image compression on websites. After a site is connected, it scans images, compresses them, and monitors for newly added or changed files. Website owners can choose quality-preserving optimization or higher compression with reduced image quality, then set proportional maximum width and height limits. The service is aimed at PHP sites, content management systems, and frameworks, with a separate web interface for compressing individual images.

The published plans use one-time optimization-capacity purchases rather than recurring subscriptions. The 10 MB plan is free. Paid capacity starts with 100 MB for $2 one time, followed by 2 GB for $11 and 4 GB for $22. These tiers increase the amount of optimization capacity available; the core feature set covers automatic or manual compression, batch processing, and resizing. This structure suits projects that prefer fixed purchases over monthly billing, while larger sites may need to select a higher-capacity package as their image volume grows.

OptiPic can preserve originals alongside compressed files or store originals in OptiPic cloud storage, giving site owners control over their source images. Automatic scanning and queueing reduce the need to process each upload manually, while batch and individual modes support different workflows. Its scope is narrow: compression is limited to JPG and PNG, and access is web-based with cloud deployment. Email is the listed support channel. Choose OptiPic for website-focused JPG and PNG workflows that benefit from monitoring and one-time capacity packages; consider another tool if you need additional formats or a broader platform and support model.
