OFAC API review
A flexible screening API for teams embedding sanctions and transaction checks.

OFAC API provides web and REST API tools for sanctions, risk, transaction, and recurring screening. It covers people, organizations, vessels, aircraft, identification documents, and cryptocurrency wallet addresses, supporting onboarding, KYC and KYB workflows, AML checks, payment compliance, research, and bulk screening. The product is aimed at financial institutions, payment processors, insurers, remittance providers, regulated firms, and companies embedding screening into internal or customer-facing systems.
Its strongest differentiator is the range of screening workflows and scale options. Synchronous batch screening supports up to 500 cases, while the asynchronous Jobs API supports up to 100,000 records. Teams can select sanctions and risk data sources, configure fuzzy-matching thresholds and search logic, and request optional PDF case reports. Transaction screening, ongoing monitoring, and recurring rescreening extend the product beyond one-time onboarding checks.
Integration is centered on REST endpoints, with Screening, Jobs, Search, and World Data APIs documented through Swagger/OpenAPI and supported by Postman examples. The published plans include Enterprise and Business tiers with PEP Screening and Overage Protection, a Small Business tier with global sanctions data, and a Trial plan that requires no credit card. The trial lasts 30 days, and there is no free plan. OFAC API suits teams that need configurable, scalable screening embedded in software; organizations seeking a free ongoing tier or a primarily non-API workflow should consider a different fit.
