Norton Safe Search review
Free search-result safety ratings help flag phishing and other risky sites.

Norton Safe Search combines a search service with a browser extension that displays website safety ratings alongside search results. It is aimed at individuals and small organizations that want to spot potential phishing and other risky sites before opening them. Ratings draw on Norton Safe Web reputation technology and cover risks such as malicious downloads and unsafe links. Norton describes the product as a way to identify risks, not as a tool that blocks websites.
Its focus is the search-results stage of browsing. Norton Safe Search integrates with Bing Search, and the vendor says current results may come from Bing during a transition from its previous search-results provider. Browser extensions are available for Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox, though feature availability may vary by browser during that transition. When enabled, Unsafe Site Filtering can remove unsafe, non-paid results. These capabilities make the product relevant to people who want warnings in search rather than a broader, independently described web-protection layer.
The product is free, and Norton says it is also included in some Norton protection plans. Norton Community Watch endpoint reports help identify suspicious URLs in real time, complementing reputation ratings. The key limitation for buyers is that Safe Search does not block URLs: ratings and filtered search results are not a substitute for a control that prevents access to a risky page. Choose it for free search-result guidance and browser-based ratings; consider another option if direct URL blocking is essential.
