Our verdict on @nifty Mail

@nifty Mail is a personal email service for @nifty members in Japan who want an @nifty.com address across browser, desktop, and mobile environments. The service includes browser-based webmail and supported mail-client access, with compatibility for POP3, SMTP, and IMAP. It suits solo users and small households looking for a conventional mailbox rather than a broader collaboration suite. The standard mailbox provides 5 GB of storage, and messages can be up to 20 MB.

Pricing is the main consideration. The lowest-cost email-only option is the @nifty Basic Fee at ¥275 per month, paired with @nifty Mail. This plan includes one @nifty.com email address, webmail access, and supported mail-client access. The service page also describes @nifty Mail as free for eligible @nifty connection-service members, while free-ID users need the paid Basic Fee for email-only access. Additional email addresses and mailbox options are available through options, so buyers should distinguish the included address from expanded configurations.

Platform fit is a clear strength. Users can access the service on web, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, and can connect it with Outlook, Apple Mail, or Gmail. Spam-filtering and delivery-blocking options add useful control for routine personal email. However, the combination of a ¥275 monthly entry point and 5 GB of storage makes it a focused choice, not a high-capacity mailbox. Choose @nifty Mail if an @nifty.com address, standard protocols, and multi-device access matter most; choose an alternative if you need a free email-only account or substantially more storage.
