Nibomo is an open-source flashcard application for learners preparing for exams, studying languages, or memorizing technical and medical material. It combines basic front-and-back cards with decks, tags, FSRS-based spaced repetition, AI-assisted card creation and editing, and offline mobile study. Web, iOS, and Android support make it suitable for learners who want the same study collection across devices, while portable exports support users who want control over their cards, tags, and media.
Nibomo has two free paths. The Hosted plan includes AI features during the beta period, synchronization across web, iOS, and Android, and no plan-based quotas on cards, files, or total storage during beta. It also supports importing and exporting cards, tags, and media. The Self-Hosted plan provides the open-source application and AWS CDK infrastructure, with an AWS deployment path and a local Docker/Postgres setup. The operator pays infrastructure and third-party provider costs. For AI-focused workflows, MCP and Agent API integrations provide access for connected agents, giving technical users more ways to create or manage study material.
The product’s focus is clear rather than broad: flashcard study with spaced repetition, mobile access, and portable data. Its AI-assisted creation can reduce manual card entry, while offline synchronization supports study away from a connection. The basic card format may suit conventional memorization but offers less variety for learners seeking multiple card types or broader study modes. Choose Nibomo if free access, open-source control, offline mobile study, or agent connectivity matters most. Consider another generator if you need a wider range of card formats or a more mature hosted service beyond the beta period.
