Nextcloud Tasks is an open-source to-do list app for users and organizations already operating a Nextcloud instance. It provides a web interface for creating, editing, organizing, prioritizing and completing tasks while keeping task data under the control of the Nextcloud server operator. Its feature set covers titles, descriptions, start dates, due dates, statuses, priorities, tags, subtasks, reminders and repeating schedules. The product fits solo users through enterprise teams, provided they can manage or access a self-hosted Nextcloud deployment.
CalDAV synchronization is the product’s clearest ecosystem advantage. Tasks can sync with compatible applications including Apple Reminders, 2Do, DAVx5, OpenTasks, Outlook CalDAV Synchronizer, QOwnNotes, Thunderbird Lightning, BusyCal, GNOME Todo, Kalendar, vdirsyncer, Planify, jtx Board and NowThis. That makes Nextcloud Tasks a practical choice for people who want task lists to connect with existing desktop and mobile tools rather than remain confined to one web application. Smart collections for important, current and upcoming tasks add another layer of organization within the Nextcloud interface.
The trade-off is deployment and convenience. Nextcloud Tasks is distributed as an app for an existing Nextcloud server, so it is not a standalone task application with a separate deployment path. The listed platform coverage is web and self-hosted, and offline access is not provided. Support channels are community and documentation, which suits users comfortable with self-hosted software and shared troubleshooting resources. Choose Nextcloud Tasks when CalDAV synchronization, open-source software and server-side data control matter most. Choose another to-do app if you want a hosted service, native offline access or a simpler setup without operating Nextcloud.
