Newline by Fifth Third is an API-first embedded finance platform for enterprise businesses. It is designed for fintechs, payment processors, payroll and HR software providers, and accounts payable and receivable platforms that need to embed payment and deposit capabilities. Its scope covers ACH, wire, book transfer and real-time payment workflows, along with commercial cards and bank account solutions. Customer onboarding includes KYC and AML verification workflows defined by Fifth Third Bank.
The platform’s strongest fit is a program that needs several banking building blocks in one API-oriented offering. Newline provides virtual and physical commercial credit or prepaid debit cards, custodial and synthetic account structures, and virtual reference numbers for account aliasing and reconciliation. Real-time transaction reporting and reconciliation support add operational visibility. These capabilities make it relevant to products that must connect payments, account structures, card programs and customer verification rather than offer only a single payment rail.
Integration is centered on REST APIs, a sandbox environment, JWT authentication and program credentials. That gives development teams a defined path for connecting embedded finance workflows, while the platform’s KYC and AML processes address onboarding requirements. Newline’s ETAS documentation describes a bring-your-own-ledger model, and the accounts page identifies the Newline Ledger as coming soon; organizations seeking a currently provided ledger should evaluate that distinction closely. Newline is a reasonable choice for newer API banking programs that prioritize commercial cards and multiple payment flows. It is less suitable for teams seeking a packaged ledger as part of the current offering or a self-service pricing model.
