Our verdict on NetZero Email
NetZero Email is a personal email service for people who want webmail alongside familiar desktop and mobile access. It provides free accounts through NetZero Message Center, mobile-browser access, and POP and SMTP support for clients including Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Apple Mail. Free accounts include 1 GB of mailbox storage and support messages up to 10 MB, while the service also includes spam and email-virus protection, forwarding, sorting, deletion tools, and block lists.
The published paid plans are straightforward. MegaMail costs $29.95 per year and provides 2 GB of mailbox storage, mail forwarding, a block list with 1,500 addresses, and the ability to check other email accounts. MegaMail Plus costs $42.95 per year and raises storage to 5 GB, expands the block list to 2,000 addresses, adds a larger attachment limit, and retains forwarding and account checking. MegaMail supports attachments up to 20 MB. These plans suit people who value mailbox controls and established client compatibility more than large storage allocations.
NetZero Email’s main strength is ecosystem fit: it works across web, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, while supporting cloud, desktop, and mobile deployment. That makes it a practical choice for users who want to keep a desktop email workflow rather than move entirely to a browser. It is less suitable for buyers whose priority is substantial free storage or a larger paid mailbox. Solo users and small organizations seeking basic email management, forwarding, filtering, and account aggregation should consider it; users needing more storage should choose an alternative.
