Nesbit review
A focused Apple-platform emulator with useful debugging tools but limited game coverage.

Nesbit is an open-source NES emulator and debugger for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It is aimed at Apple users who want to load .nes cartridge files, play with configurable controls, and inspect supported ROMs through development-oriented tools. Input options include keyboard mappings, hardware keyboards, gamepads, and an on-screen virtual controller on iOS and iPadOS. Audio playback covers four synthesized channels, while automatic state restoration returns to the previous game state.
Its standout feature is the CPU and memory debugger. For supported ROMs, Nesbit provides breakpoints, watches, a call stack, and disassembly, giving technically minded users a way to examine program behavior alongside emulation. That focus makes it more suitable for debugging and experimentation than for anyone seeking only a broad library of playable NES titles. The Apple coverage is also clear: the project supports iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, with controller options that vary by platform.
Nesbit is open source and described as an in-progress side project. It is distributed through a TestFlight beta and a macOS download, so its availability follows those distribution channels. The main limitation is scope: only a small subset of NES games is supported, and the debugger is likewise intended for supported ROMs. Choose Nesbit if Apple-platform support, source availability, and emulator debugging matter most. Choose another NES emulator if broad game compatibility or a more established distribution experience is the priority.
