NCR Counterpoint is a retail management and point-of-sale system for merchants operating stores, wholesale, mail-order, or ecommerce businesses. It combines point-of-sale ticket entry and payment processing with inventory and customer management, purchasing and receiving, sales and profitability reporting, and sales-history tracking. The product is suited to established specialty retailers that need more than checkout, particularly businesses coordinating multiple locations and operational workflows. NCR Counterpoint runs on Windows and supports mobile workflows through Counterpoint Mobile on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Its strongest fit is operational breadth. Retailers can manage multi-site data and synchronization, process transactions offline and synchronize them later, and use role-based menus with function-level employee security. Mobile capabilities cover item and customer lookup, inventory visibility, mobile point of sale, and physical inventory counting. Integrations include Microsoft SQL Server, CPOnline, QuickBooks, BusinessWorks, Great Plains, MAS 90/200, Microsoft Dynamics SL, Sage ACCPAC, and Peachtree, giving the system a wide accounting and retail-operations connection set.
Pricing is handled through a sales-led model rather than published plan tiers, so buyers should expect a vendor or partner conversation before evaluating total cost. NCR Counterpoint is distributed and supported through NCR retail partners, and the primary feature documentation is older, although the user portal and mobile help pages remain accessible. The product is a strong choice for retailers that value inventory control, offline continuity, multi-site management, and mobile store operations. Businesses seeking transparent self-service pricing, a narrowly focused checkout tool, or newer primary documentation may prefer an alternative.
