Our verdict on nanoCAD

For engineers, architects, construction professionals and surveyors working with DWG drawings, nanoCAD provides a Windows-based platform for 2D drafting and 3D modeling. Its native DWG creation and editing keep the workflow centered on that format, while the toolset spans parametric and direct modeling, assemblies, sheet metal, surfaces and meshes. The free edition is limited to 2D engineering drawing tools, so buyers seeking 3D need to consider a paid tier. nanoCAD is a focused option for DWG-based work rather than a fit for every 3D CAD workflow.

The published plans show a modular price ladder billed annually per license. nanoCAD 26 Platform costs $289 and includes 2D/3D drafting and native DWG support. nanoCAD Pro costs $459 and adds the 3D Solid Modeling Module; nanoCAD Mechanica costs $620 and adds the Mechanica Module. nanoCAD Construction is also $459, with the Construction Module. nanoCAD Max costs $849 and includes all listed modules. A 30-day free trial is available. Buyers should match the module to their work rather than assume each tier adds the same type of capability.

Beyond core modeling, nanoCAD lists sheet-metal modeling and unfolding, surface and mesh workflows, point-cloud import and editing, and IFC import and BCF functionality. Its open API supports extensions, and listed formats include DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, STL and Parasolid. That breadth gives existing DWG users ways to handle varied drafting and model exchange tasks, but the platform is Windows-only. Choose nanoCAD if native DWG work and modular 3D tools align with your projects; consider alternatives if you need a broader engineering platform or work outside Windows.
