multiOTP is an open-source, self-hosted multi-factor authentication solution for organizations protecting VPNs, SSL-VPN connections, extranet portals, private websites, network devices and Windows logons. Its core model centers on RADIUS and OTP tokens, with support for OATH HOTP and TOTP, mOTP, YubiKey, SMS, scratch passwords and hardware tokens. Windows and Linux deployments are supported, and the product includes a web management interface, directory synchronization and token provisioning through QR codes.
Its strongest fit is an environment that already uses RADIUS, FreeRADIUS, TekRADIUS, WinRADIUS, Active Directory or LDAP. multiOTP also connects with Apache HTTP Server, OpenSSH, MySQL and external applications through web services, a REST API, a PHP library or command-line interface. QR-code provisioning and generated user PDFs support administrative workflows, while the offline-capable Windows Credential Provider uses local caching for Windows authentication when connectivity is unavailable. Enterprise adds master-slave high availability and REST API access, making the commercial edition more suitable for larger deployments.
The published plans show a free open-source edition alongside Pro and Enterprise. Pro supports up to 500 users, AD/LDAP synchronization, PSKC token files and no annual fee. Enterprise supports up to 100,000 users and adds master-slave high availability, REST API access, push notifications and a Raspberry Pi appliance option. Commercial pricing is listed in CHF including VAT, with published figures of CHF 200 for 10 additional Pro users and CHF 350 for 10 additional Enterprise users. Choose multiOTP for self-hosted RADIUS-based OTP and directory integration; organizations seeking adaptive, passwordless or device-trust capabilities should choose a different product.
