Our verdict on Mpix
Mpix is a paid web-based photo-printing service for consumers creating and ordering custom photo books, albums, and other printed photo products. Its book builder combines drag-and-drop photo placement with preset and flexible interior layouts, captions, text boxes, backgrounds, and customizable covers. The product is suited to people who want a finished physical book shipped after production, particularly those comparing premium formats rather than looking only for digital book-design software. Official apps for iOS and Android also support photo uploading and photo-book creation or ordering from mobile devices.
The format range is a central strength. Accordion Minis hold up to 12 photos and include a customizable cover, while Premium Softcover Photo Books add paperback covers, layflat pages, and customizable layouts. Classic Photo Books offer hardcover construction with magazine-style or hinged pages and drag-and-drop design tools. Higher-end choices include Premium Hardcover Photo Books with linen covers, Custom Cover Photo Books with full-wrap image covers and multiple paper options, Fabric Cover Photo Books with cotton-based covers, and Signature Photo Albums with leather covers and archival layflat pages. This breadth gives buyers control over presentation, paper, cover treatment, and page style.
Mpix fits buyers who value printed albums, premium materials, and mobile ordering more than a standalone design workflow. The published category details show a starting price of 19.99, while the listed product plans describe formats and features rather than a single subscription structure. Mpix was founded in 2003 and is operated by Miller's, Inc., with printed production and shipping included in the service model. Buyers seeking automatic photo arrangement, PDF export, or a desktop book-creation application should choose a product built around those capabilities instead. For physical keepsakes with flexible layouts and multiple premium formats, Mpix is the more fitting choice.
