Our verdict on Mone

Mone is an open-source Android video downloader for saving media to a device gallery. It is aimed at users who mainly collect clips from social and video sites, including Instagram, Pinterest, X, WhatsApp statuses, and more than 1,000 yt-dlp-supported sites. Quality choices include Best, 1080p, and 720p, while audio-only downloads use M4A. Clip trimming, download history, replay, and sharing links from other applications add practical controls for individual saves.

Its strongest area is focused download workflow. Queued downloads support per-item cancellation, and background processing with notifications lets multiple items continue without keeping the app in the foreground. Instagram login supports reels that require an account, while WhatsApp status saving addresses a specific Android use case. The app also combines source breadth with simple media handling rather than adding AI features or a broader content-management system. Users who want a lightweight downloader for individual social clips should find the feature set well aligned with that purpose.

The main trade-off is scope. Playlist and profile batch downloads are explicitly not supported, so Mone is less suitable for users who want to archive large collections or automate channel-level downloads. The maximum quality is 1080p, and YouTube downloads are described as unreliable because of rate limits and JavaScript challenges. Distribution also requires a sideloaded APK, with a 64-bit Android device running Android 7.0 or later. Choose Mone for open-source Android downloading with trimming, queues, notifications, and social-media support; choose an alternative if playlists, profile batches, or more dependable YouTube downloading are central requirements.
