Modoboa is a free, open-source mail hosting and management platform for organizations and hosting operators that want to run their own email infrastructure. Its administration panel covers domains, mailboxes and aliases, while built-in webmail, calendar management, address books, filtering rules, autoresponders and email-traffic statistics extend beyond basic mail delivery. It runs through web, Linux, API and self-hosted environments, with IMAP and POP support and web-only mobile coverage.
The platform’s strongest fit is its breadth of mail-management capabilities and ecosystem support. Modoboa supports DKIM, DMARC and SPF, and its integrations include Postfix, Dovecot, Nginx, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, Rspamd, Amavis, OpenDKIM, Radicale and Let’s Encrypt. The official installer configures core mail, database, antispam, calendar and contact components, while the REST API supports programmatic administration. Documented IMAP migration tooling also gives organizations a defined path for moving mailboxes into the platform.
Pricing is centered on the free, open-source Modoboa core, with separate paid add-on plans. The Pro plan covers a single Modoboa instance and includes bundled email support. The Provider plan covers up to five Modoboa instances and also includes bundled email support. These paid plans are for the Modoboa Pro add-on suite rather than hosted mailbox service, so the product suits teams prepared to operate their own deployment. Choose Modoboa for web-managed, customizable mail infrastructure with integrated calendar and contact tools; choose another option if mobile apps or hosted mailboxes are essential.
