MocapX is an iOS and iPadOS motion-capture app paired with a Windows and macOS Autodesk Maya plug-in. It is designed for animators, riggers, and studios working with facial, body, 2D character, or camera motion. The app captures 52 ARKit-compatible facial expressions, eye movement, gaze direction, blinking, head rotation, translation, full-body skeletal motion, and camera movement. Captured data can be streamed to Maya, recorded for later playback, mapped to custom rigs, or baked to Maya animation curves.
Pricing is structured around three paid plans for the iOS app. Monthly costs $19.99 per month, while Yearly costs $199 per year; both include real-time facial capture, offline recording, camera tracking, body tracking, 2D motion tracking, and Wi-Fi and USB support. Lifetime costs $499 one time and adds all current features, all future features, lifetime updates, and no recurring fees. The Maya plug-in is free to download, while the capture workflow centers on the paid app plans.
MocapX fits teams already working in Autodesk Maya, with integrations for Autodesk Maya and Advanced Skeleton. Its feature depth extends beyond facial capture through full-body tracking, 2D character tracking, 3D camera tracking, Maya camera animation, clip playback, and the Pose Library for rig-controller mapping. Windows and macOS support the plug-in, while capture runs on iOS and iPadOS. Choose MocapX for an iPhone-based Maya pipeline that needs live or recorded capture; consider another tool if your primary animation environment is outside Maya.
