Minotaur is an open-source Gradle plugin from Modrinth for publishing Minecraft project build artifacts directly to Modrinth. It is aimed at developers who manage mod builds with Gradle and want publishing configured alongside their existing build scripts. The plugin supports Groovy and Kotlin Gradle DSLs, Fabric Loom, ForgeGradle, and Minecraft projects using Fabric or Forge loaders.

Its strongest area is publishing depth within that narrow workflow. Minotaur can upload the main build artifact and additional files, set release, beta, or alpha version types, and attach version metadata and changelogs. It also supports required, optional, incompatible, and embedded dependencies, while loader detection can come through Gradle plugins. Project bodies can be synchronized from local files, which keeps selected Modrinth content connected to the project configuration. Debug mode allows a publishing task to be checked without uploading.

The trade-off is scope: Minotaur concentrates on distribution to Modrinth rather than offering broader Minecraft development, project management, or multi-platform release tooling. Its open-source model avoids a tiered commercial plan structure, but the workflow still depends on Gradle configuration and the Modrinth API. Choose Minotaur if Modrinth is your target platform and you want publishing rules expressed in a Gradle build. Consider another tool if you need a broader development environment or distribution across destinations beyond Modrinth.
