MindMapVault review
A strong fit for private local or self-hosted mapping, with limited collaboration.

MindMapVault is a mind-mapping application for individuals and organizations that want local, self-hosted, or encrypted hosted workspaces. It supports map and note editing through the web, Windows, and Linux applications, with Progressive Web App access on iPhone and Android. Client-side end-to-end encryption is designed to keep map content unreadable to the server. Offline and local-first editing, encrypted sharing, public publishing, and exports to FreeMind .mm, Markdown, PDF, PNG, and SVG make it suitable for private planning, documentation, and idea development.
Its deployment options are a major strength for privacy-conscious teams. The free Desktop Local + Self-Hosted plan supports Windows and Linux builds, Docker deployment, and local or self-hosted operation. Self-hosted storage can use PostgreSQL and S3-compatible storage, while on-premise deployments support Docker or Kubernetes, SAML/OIDC single sign-on, a REST API, webhooks, deployment guidance, and rollout support. The product also includes AI auto-clustering, branch summarization, and idea suggestions, giving users additional ways to organize maps without changing the privacy-focused operating model.
The hosted plans are straightforward but differ materially. Cloud Free includes 25 MB of encrypted storage, cross-device web access, three shares, and five published maps at a time. Cloud Pro costs $50 per user per year with annual billing and adds 1 GB of encrypted cloud storage, deep version history, files in shares, unlimited publishing, and own branding. Live collaboration is not available for general accounts, which makes MindMapVault a better choice for private individual work, controlled organizational deployments, and self-hosted environments than for teams that need shared real-time editing. Buyers prioritizing encrypted local control should consider it; collaboration-first teams should look elsewhere.
