Microsoft Viva Learning is a learning experience platform for organizations that want workplace training brought into Microsoft Teams. It combines content from Microsoft, connected learning providers, learning management systems, and internal sources, giving employees a central place to search, browse, bookmark, share, and receive recommendations. Managers can recommend training and track completion, while administrators can organize learning paths, academies, collections, and featured content. Access is available through Teams, the web, and Teams mobile apps for iOS and Android.

Pricing is structured around two annual-billing options. Microsoft Viva Learning starts at $4 per user per month with an annual commitment. This plan connects learning providers and LMS platforms, supports recommendations and completion tracking, surfaces content across Microsoft Search, and provides learning paths and academies. Microsoft Viva Suite costs $12 per user per month and includes everything in Viva Learning, along with company-branded employee apps, premium community, knowledge, and leadership experiences, plus data-driven insights for managers and leaders. Microsoft 365 subscriptions include basic Viva Learning features, while premium content connections and administration require a Viva Learning or Viva Suite license.

Its main strength is platform and ecosystem fit. Viva Learning can connect Microsoft Learn, Microsoft 365 Training, LinkedIn Learning, SAP SuccessFactors, Pluralsight, Cornerstone, Skillsoft, Saba, SumTotal, LMS365, GO1, and SharePoint. It also supports organization-owned documents, audio, video, and linked content, with sharing through Teams chats and channels. AI-powered personalized recommendations are available through Learning Agent integrations. Organizations already centered on Microsoft 365 and Teams should find the product’s model a natural fit; teams operating primarily outside that environment should consider a platform with broader ecosystem alignment.

Microsoft Viva Learning pros and cons

    • Connects learning to Teams sharing, assignments, and completion tracking
  • Where it doesn't
    • Annual billing applies to the listed starting plan
    • Premium content connections and administration require a paid license
    • Its ecosystem fit is narrower outside Microsoft environments
