Microsoft Viva Connections is an employee intranet experience for organizations using Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams. It creates a branded destination with an organization name, logo, colors, news, announcements, conversations, resources, and task-oriented dashboard cards. Administrators can tailor navigation, dashboard items, links, and communications for individuals or employee groups. Employees can access the experience through Teams on desktop, web, and mobile devices, as well as through web, iOS, and Android platforms. It is aimed at Microsoft-centered organizations that want an employee hub without moving away from their existing workplace ecosystem.

Pricing is structured around Microsoft 365 licensing. Viva Connections is included for eligible Microsoft 365 or Office 365 enterprise users with Teams through the Microsoft Viva in Microsoft 365 option. The Microsoft Viva Employee Communications and Communities plan costs $2 per user per month with annual billing and adds premium community experiences, multiple company-branded destinations, and centralized campaign management. Microsoft Viva Suite costs $12 per user per month with annual billing and includes those capabilities plus learning recommendations and tracking, Viva Insights, Viva Engage, Viva Amplify, Viva Glint, Viva Pulse, and Viva Learning. These tiers make Connections particularly relevant when an organization already qualifies for Microsoft licensing or wants a broader Viva deployment.

Its strongest distinction is ecosystem fit. Connections brings together SharePoint news, Viva Engage, Microsoft Stream, Teams apps, partner applications, and HR systems, while audience targeting supports different experiences for distinct employee groups. That combination suits companies managing organizational news, urgent communications, resources, and workplace tasks across Microsoft tools. It is less appropriate for buyers seeking a platform centered on standalone directory capabilities, extensive page-building flexibility, or broader SSO coverage. Choose it when Teams and SharePoint are already central; consider alternatives when the intranet must operate independently of Microsoft 365.
