Mattermost is an open-source collaboration platform for technical, operational, defense, and critical-infrastructure teams. It brings public and private channels, direct and group messaging, file sharing, threaded discussions, search, audio calls, screen sharing, workflow automation, project management, integrations, and AI-assisted collaboration into one product. Deployment options include on-premises, private clouds, and air-gapped environments, with web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, API, and self-hosted access. It is a strong fit for teams that prioritize control over their collaboration environment.

The published plans show a free Entry edition for small teams and subscription evaluation. It includes messaging, workflow automation, project management, calls, and AI agents, with monthly limits of 10,000 messages, 1,000 board cards, and 250 AI-assisted agent queries. Professional adds public and private channels, file sharing, threaded discussions, core search, guest accounts, and the integrations platform.
