MailRoute combines a cloud email-security gateway with an optional hosted-mail service. It is aimed at organizations that want to filter inbound and outbound mail before delivery, whether they run Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, an on-premises mail system or another SMTP-compatible server. Spam, phishing, ransomware, viruses and impersonation are among the threats it addresses, alongside quarantine review, content policies, DKIM signing, logs and threat reports. Its breadth makes it relevant to small organizations as well as mid-market and enterprise teams, but buyers seeking a free plan should look elsewhere.

The published monthly plans begin with Basics at $2 per user, adding inbound and outbound security, content filtering, DKIM signing, quarantine notifications, Microsoft 365 and Google integration, and online help desk access. Enterprise costs $3 per user and adds phone support, LDAP/AD sync, API access, SSO, 30-day email continuity and migration assistance. Enterprise U.S. is $4 per user, with U.S.-based datacenters, U.S.-citizen-only account access, ITAR compliance, HIPAA readiness with a BAA available, and NIST 800-171 certification. Hosted Basics starts at $5 per user for a 50GB mailbox, IMAP/POP3 and webmail; Hosted Enterprise is $6, while Hosted Enterprise U.S. is $7. A 30-day trial is offered without a credit card.

MailRoute’s ecosystem fit is a notable strength: listed connections include Exchange Online, Google Workspace, on-premises Exchange, Postfix, Zimbra, Kerio, MDaemon, cPanel and any SMTP-compatible server. The product also includes URL scanning, newly registered domain blocking, DMARC protection, user and administrator quarantine with message recovery, and outbound account-takeover monitoring. Email continuity through webmail is an Enterprise feature, rather than part of Basics. Organizations needing hosted mail and broad server compatibility can consider the Hosted tiers; teams that only need filtering can start with Basics. Buyers requiring continuity, directory synchronization or API access need to budget for Enterprise or above.
