  • Where it wins

    • An events and contacts API: one API call, then product teams write the email rules
    • Bring your own SMTP provider, such as Amazon SES, and pay its wholesale rates directly
    • Per-email delivery logs with plain-English failure reasons
  • Where it doesn't

    • Mailazy does not send email itself; you need an SMTP provider account
    • Free allows 1 automation and 1 event rule, with 5,000 emails a month
    • Behavior-driven emails are on the Enterprise plan only

Our verdict on Mailazy

Mailazy is an email platform for product teams. It sends behavior, event and newsletter emails, but not from its own servers: you connect your own SMTP provider, such as Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark, Brevo or Resend, and pay that provider directly, while Mailazy charges for team members. Engineers add one API call, and product managers write the rules for who gets which email, in plain English or by asking Claude or ChatGPT through Mailazy's MCP connector.

For developers, Mailazy offers an events and contacts API and a test event tool, and event rules decide which emails go out. Every send gets a per-email delivery log with plain-English failure reasons, plus a delivery overview with a daily chart. Teams also get contacts, lists and tags with CSV import, an email designer with templates, an HTML editor with Handlebars and template versions, newsletters with open and click reports, and automations on a visual drip canvas.

Free costs nothing and covers one team member, 1,000 contacts and 5,000 emails a month, with newsletters, one automation and one event rule. Pro costs $49 a month ($490 a year) for two team members, 25,000 contacts and 100,000 emails a month, with unlimited automations and event rules, AI drafts, roles and email support. Business costs $199 a month ($1,990 a year) for five team members with no contact or email limit, SSO sign-in, white label and priority support. Enterprise is priced for each company and adds behavior-driven emails, a 99.9% uptime SLA, a SOC 2 Type II report and private-cloud options. Sending is billed separately by your SMTP provider; Mailazy's own estimate cites Amazon SES at about $0.10 per 1,000 emails.

Mailazy suits SaaS product teams that already have, or are happy to set up, an SMTP provider and want product-triggered and newsletter email run by people outside engineering. Teams that want one service to send the email itself should look at a full email API.
