Luna Launcher is an open-source Minecraft launcher for managing multiple installations and isolated game instances. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, with separate mods, resource packs, and settings for each instance. The project is aimed primarily at developers and early testers, while players who want a mature, ready-to-install launcher may find the current distribution model less suitable.

Instance management is the product’s clearest strength. Modpack installation and management are built in, and the Java runtime auto-downloader option can simplify runtime handling. Luna Launcher also supports BMCLAPI and other community mirror APIs, giving users additional ways to obtain Minecraft-related files. Its interface includes Fluent dark and light themes, an optional experimental three-column layout, and per-instance LunaUI JavaScript and JSON custom panels for more tailored workflows.

Multiplayer is another defining focus. Built-in P2P multiplayer works through Terracotta and YukariConnect, while server status and player previews help users inspect servers before joining. The trade-off is onboarding: stable installation packages are not currently provided, so users are directed to build the project or check GitHub for preview builds. That makes Luna Launcher a stronger fit for technically comfortable players, developers, and early testers who value customization, isolated instances, and integrated collaboration. Players seeking a finished, conventional installation experience should choose an alternative.
