Loam review
Ask questions about uploaded data through AI tools, with answers you can inspect.

Loam helps people ask business-data questions in plain English by uploading files and working with supported AI tools. It can run SQL on uploaded or stored data and return answers with result rows and citations to inspect. The product also includes Explore for grouping, filtering, and summarizing data, plus datasets, tables, and an SQL console. Its file support spans CSV, TSV, JSON, Excel, Parquet, and SQLite. Loam is aimed at individuals and teams that want to analyze files through AI assistants rather than connect text-to-SQL directly to their own database.
The free Individual Free plan supports file uploads and data exploration, grounded questions, connections to supported AI tools, and inspection of returned rows and citations. Individual Pro costs $39 per user per month when billed monthly and provides one personal workspace for one person. Team costs $49 per seat per month, also billed monthly, and requires at least two seats; it adds shared workspaces and data, roles, permissions, and team administration. That makes the free plan a way to assess the file-based workflow, while the paid tiers distinguish personal use from collaboration.
Loam connects with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible tools, and is available on the web and through an API. Teams that need shared data and permission controls have a clear reason to consider Team; solo users can start with Free or choose Pro for a personal workspace. The key boundary is database connectivity: Loam's text-to-SQL tool runs against stored or uploaded data and does not connect to the user's database. Organizations whose central requirement is querying a live database through that tool should consider an alternative; file-centered analysis with inspectable AI answers is the better fit here.
