Lightspeed Payments is a payment processor for businesses running Lightspeed Retail POS or Lightspeed eCom. It covers in-person credit and debit card acceptance through terminals, online checkout, digital wallets, payment links, recurring ecommerce subscriptions, refunds, chargeback management, and payment reporting. Retailers can also accept manually entered or card-not-present payments and split a transaction across multiple payment types. It fits independent retailers and growing businesses operating physical stores, online shops, or both, particularly when payment processing needs to stay connected to a Lightspeed environment.
Pricing starts with the Basic plan at $89 per month. It includes integrated payments, one register, a 1.5% Lightspeed Payments card-present rate, 24/7 chat support, and 24/7 phone support. Core costs $149 per month and adds API access and SSO while retaining the same included register and advertised card-present rate. Plus costs $289 per month and adds custom user roles and SSO. The advertised Retail X-Series prices and rate may vary by region, business type, product edition, and additional service fees. Payouts can be scheduled daily, same-day, or instantly, with availability varying by market and product edition.
The main advantage is breadth within a Lightspeed setup: the service combines physical checkout, ecommerce payments, payment links, recurring billing, refunds, chargebacks, and transaction tracking rather than focusing only on card acceptance. It is available on web, iOS, and Android, and integrates with Lightspeed Retail POS and Lightspeed eCom. Businesses needing multi-currency payments should look elsewhere, and the monthly entry price may not suit smaller operations seeking a free or low-commitment processor. Lightspeed users that want connected payments and can justify the subscription are the clearest fit; businesses outside the Lightspeed ecosystem should consider alternatives.
