LibreSign review
A capable open-source signing option for organizations built around Nextcloud.

LibreSign is open-source electronic and digital document signing software from LibreCode. It is designed for organizations that use Nextcloud and want control over document data, signing workflows, and deployment. The software supports document upload and management, personal or system-generated digital certificates, multi-signer workflows, signing history, timestamps, document validation, and reminders. It runs as a web application, can be self-hosted, and also offers REST and OCS API integration.
The main fit is its connection to the Nextcloud ecosystem. LibreSign integrates with Nextcloud files and users, while external identity providers and PKI systems are also supported. Signing can follow sequential or parallel order, which gives organizations options for approval flows involving multiple signers. Audit trails record signing events and timestamps, and QR-code validation adds a way to validate documents after signing. Real-time status monitoring and reminders extend the workflow beyond the signature action itself. The APIs make it suitable for organizations that need to connect signing with other systems.
The core self-hosted software is available at no cost, while LibreCode also offers a managed commercial Business option with unlimited accounts and customized storage, plus a commercial API Integration option. Paid services require contacting the vendor. LibreSign is a strong choice for Nextcloud-centered organizations that value open-source software, self-hosting, certificates, auditability, and workflow control. It is less suitable for teams that do not use Nextcloud or that want a standalone signing service without responsibility for the deployment environment.
